Sunset Colour Studies

Here's a progression of a sunset outside my window yesterday, as a rough colour study. The first image took around 10 minutes in Photoshop and the following two took just over 5 minutes each to change colour, mood and make tweaks to the original painting.

I had to be very quick as the colours vanished in just a few minutes! Enjoy! :)

  1. These are looking nice Gem! It's cool to see you're still into your design.

  2. Thanks Luke! Of course, I'm always doing some kind of drawing, I just don't often post them! :P

Your new site's looking good by the way, you're really rocking the 'simple and clean' style lol! ;)
I didn't know you'd graduated already as well, congratulations! What's next for you? :)

  3. Thanks. I graduated in July, and I'm starting my Masters in October. I just finished a week at The Sunday Times actually, working on designing for their iPad app, so i'm hoping I can turn my hands to that next. If that fails me, i'm sure i'll stick to the editorial/journalism side of design.

How is your course going, are you in your third year yet?

  4. Great stuff! How long is your Masters course? One year or two? It's good that you're furthering that too, I'm guessing you really enjoy Uni or are you mainly furthering skills or going for the qualification? :)

Wow, iPad apps too! Very impressive, what was your experience there like?

I'm just about to start my third year towards the end of September, got to animate a short film and write a dissertation in the space of just under a year! It's going to be a tough one, but I'm excited as well as nervous! Course has been great so far, I have no idea where it will take me after Uni though--hopefully employment!! >.<
